FortisBC and the City of Vancouver want you to know about a major upcoming project that will affect traffic through several months starting in later this month. In order to replace a gas line along First Avenue, a large section of the street will be completely closed into the summer months.
Vancouver, which already has the largest public charging network in the province, is looking to move ahead with a Bylaw Amendment to require all new condo development parking spots to be equipped for vehicle charging. The Bylaw would exclude visitor parking spots.
Mayor Gregor Robinson told the Vancouver Sun that their goal is to be 100% renewably powered by 2050 and that the city won’t be able to do it without providing the infrastructure people will need.
This is good news for existing and future customers that will be driving electric and plug in hybrid vehicles (PHEV) like the Chevrolet Volt and the 2018 Chevrolet Bolt among others.
